It is the parent company of SLL Junior Hockey. From its humble beginnings with four players in 2016, Somang has now grown to three full teams (16U, 18U, and Prep) playing an average of 80 games in highly competitive leagues across North America (United Tier 1, NAPHL Canada). During this period, Somang has always stayed true to its values of development and advancement. This singular focus has wielded increasingly noteworthy results, with a growing number of our players going on to ply their skills in high level junior leagues (USHL, NAHL, NCDC, USPHL, Junior A etc.), as well as at the collegiate (NCAA, ACHA) and pro levels (Sweden, Germany, Hungary, Great Britain, France etc.).
Meanwhile, the international outlook at the heart of our DNA has meant that players from all over the hockey planet have called the Terrebonne area home over the last decade, with 15 different countries represented annually on average. This international flavor has led not only to exciting results on the ice, but to lifelong friendships and memories both in the locker room and within our wider community.
The addition of a high profile junior team in the USPHL represents the next step in the evolution of the Somang Program in that it allows us to not only provide our players with an additional level of development and competition, but also to accompany them one step closer to their end goal of playing hockey at the collegiate or pro levels.
Somang Hockey is proud to announce the addition of a team in the new Canadian division of the United States Premier Hockey League (USPHL), the largest junior league in North America. Set to begin play in the fall of 2024, the new franchise, which will compete as Somang Laurentides Lanaudiere (SLL) Hockey, will continue to uphold the lofty objectives of the Somang family, namely the development and advancement of our players to the next level, whether it be to higher level junior leagues, college, or pro.
Open to players born between 2004-06, this new franchise will provide local and international players with a high degree of exposure to next level scouts on both sides of the border while offering a very competitive level of hockey.
